Dynamics Cafe is an informal, non-commercial academic seminar initiative organized by volunteer researchers.

The Dynamics Cafe organizers are responsible for the processing of personal information described in this policy.

2. What personal information we process

Mailing-list subscribers

If you subscribe to the Dynamics Cafe mailing list, we ask only for your email address.

We use it solely to send information about Dynamics Cafe seminars, such as upcoming speakers, schedules, meeting links, and schedule changes.

We do not ask mailing-list subscribers for their name, postal address, payment information, or sensitive personal information.

Seminar speakers

For people giving a Dynamics Cafe seminar, we may publish basic professional information needed to announce and document the seminar, including:

  • name;
  • professional affiliation;
  • seminar title;
  • abstract; and
  • seminar date.

This information may remain on the Dynamics Cafe website as part of our Past Seminars archive.

3. Why we use this information

For mailing-list subscribers, we use your email address because you have consented to receive Dynamics Cafe seminar announcements.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every email.

For seminar speakers, we process basic professional information for the purposes of organizing and publicizing the seminar series and maintaining a factual archive of past seminars.

We do not sell, rent, or use personal information for commercial advertising.

4. MailerLite

We use MailerLite to manage the mailing list and send emails. MailerLite therefore processes your email address and related subscription information on our behalf.

We do not enable optional email open tracking, Google Analytics, or e-commerce tracking, and we do not use subscriber analytics for profiling or advertising.

MailerLite may nevertheless process limited technical, delivery, subscription, and interaction information as part of operating and securing its service.

5. Website hosting

The Dynamics Cafe website is hosted using GitHub Pages.

When you visit the website, GitHub may process technical information such as your IP address as part of providing and securing its hosting service.

Dynamics Cafe does not use its own analytics, advertising trackers, or profiling tools on the website.

6. LinkedIn

Dynamics Cafe maintains a LinkedIn Page where we may publish seminar announcements and information about upcoming and past seminars.

If you visit, follow, or interact with the Dynamics Cafe LinkedIn Page, LinkedIn processes information in accordance with its own privacy policy. LinkedIn may also provide Page administrators with statistics or information about interactions with the Page.

We do not combine LinkedIn interaction information with our mailing-list data.

7. How long we keep information

Mailing-list subscribers

Your email address remains in MailerLite while you are subscribed to Dynamics Cafe.

If you unsubscribe, you will immediately stop receiving Dynamics Cafe emails. MailerLite retains the address with an unsubscribed status so that the unsubscribe request can be respected.

We do not use unsubscribed addresses for any other purpose.

If you ask us to erase your personal information completely, we will use MailerLite's Forget function. MailerLite states that information submitted through this procedure is completely deleted within 30 days.

If Dynamics Cafe permanently stops operating its mailing list, we will delete the subscriber list.

Seminar speakers

Basic information about past seminars may remain on the Dynamics Cafe website as part of our public seminar archive.

Speakers may contact us if they would like information about them corrected or removed. We will handle such requests in accordance with applicable data-protection law.

8. Service providers and international processing

Dynamics Cafe uses third-party services including MailerLite, GitHub, and LinkedIn.

These providers may process information in countries other than the country in which you live. Where required, they use data-transfer safeguards described in their respective privacy and data-protection documentation.

Dynamics Cafe does not maintain its own separate database of mailing-list subscribers outside MailerLite.

9. Your rights

Depending on the data-protection law applicable to you, you may have rights concerning your personal data, including the right to:

  • access personal data held about you;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of your information;
  • restrict certain processing;
  • receive your data where applicable; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy if the way we operate the mailing list, website, LinkedIn Page, or seminar archive changes.

The latest version will always be published on this page together with its last-updated date.
